In 1993 the first canola crop was planted in South Africa. Three years later Southern Oil Ltd (SOILL) was built with the objective to process locally produced seeds and stimulate the growth of this new product. Seeds coming from the farmers in the Overberg region are graded, cleaned and stored in silo’s until used for manufacturing. The final product is refined, bottled and branded with our B-well label.

Soon after, the crushing and refining of Maize (Corn) Oil began and in 2009 Southern Oil (PTY) Ltd produced the first batch of Refined Grapeseed Oil.

Charles Siphugu, Chief Executive Officer

We bought a biodiesel plant and oil press plant in 2007 from BiotechSA . We are very happy with equipment and service given.  We press 3rd grade macadamia kernels for its oil and to make biodiesel from it. We also use chicken tallow to produce biodiesel for own use.
